U.S. Waterborne Containerized Agricultural Trade
Since its
inception in the 1950s, containerization has opened doors to overseas markets
and trade opportunities all over the world. Marine shipping containers move
everything from manufacturing inputs and consumer goods to animal feed and
refrigerated meat products. The world has become more and more dependent on
containers, and the agricultural industry is no exception. Of total U.S.
waterborne agricultural exports, the share moved in containers is approximately
25 percent by volume and nearly 55 percent by value. The graphs below
provide a snapshot of containerized agricultural trade. By means of the filters,
users can display information for a specific, port, timeframe, and export or import commodity.
